AWC honored by APS for energy savings in construction of new MAC facility

Yuma, AZ (November 1, 2023) – Arizona Western College was recognized by APS today for its energy savings and sustainability practices in the construction of its new Matador Activity Center (MAC) housed at the Yuma Campus, 2020 S. Ave 8E. 

To honor AWC for its efforts, APS presented the college with an equipment rebate check for over $9,300 as well as a distinction of Clean Energy Project Achievement. The award recognizes AWC for:

Facilities and Agriculture departments create herb garden to be used by Culinary Arts

Yuma, AZ (October 30, 2023) – Three departments at Arizona Western College have cultivated a partnership that is sure to yield some delicious results.

The Facilities department recently prepped an area with basic landscaping located outside of the Culinary Arts classroom and installed an irrigation water supply to turn the space into a fully functioning herb garden. The Agriculture program laid down topsoil and transplanted plants grown in their greenhouse so that Culinary Arts classes could harvest the herbs and incorporate them into their dishes.

Arizona Western College included on DOE’s Best Practices in District Energy list

Yuma, AZ (September 11, 2023) – Steve Eckert, Arizona Western College Director of Facilities Management, was recently honored by the U.S. Department of Energy as one of nine engineers and facilities leaders to be featured on the department’s national Directory of Experts.
