New fast-track courses offered in Spanish

Continuing Education classes to begin October 10

Yuma, AZ (October 3, 2023) – Arizona Western College Continuing Education is offering new fast-track courses in Spanish beginning Tuesday, Oct. 10.

The non-credit courses and workshops will increase educational opportunities for Spanish speakers in Yuma County, as participants can receive a registered certification or certificate upon completion.

Yuma, AZ (September 28, 2023) – Join Arizona Western College as we officially break ground on the new Law Enforcement Training Academy. The project will centralize training for LETA cadets from across the state in a purpose-built facility housed on the AWC Yuma Campus. The over 20,000-square-foot building will be adaptable to accommodate high industry demand, increase training capabilities, and expand cadet capacity at AWC.

Professor of Agriculture to present at international conference in Australia

Yuma, AZ (August 31, 2023) – Dr. Hikmet Budak, Professor of Agriculture at Arizona Western College, has been invited to speak at the International Plant and Animal Genome Conference in Perth, Australia on September 20.

During the conference, Dr. Budak will lead a workshop titled, “Plant non-coding RNAs,” examining the genomes of flowering plants and how they are transcribed.

Yuma, AZ (June 7, 2023) – Arizona is currently facing a severe shortage of college-educated adults. Just under half of Arizonans between the ages of 25 and 64 have earned a bachelor’s or associate degree or a professional credential or certificate. That’s well below the statewide goal of ensuring that at least 60 percent of Arizona’s adults have a postsecondary degree or credential by 2030.
