COVID-19 Update to Students

This page was last updated on March 21st, 2020 @ 03:54 PM

Hello Matadors!

The COVID-19 situation is rapidly changing, and we are responding to the changes according to CDC recommendations and with the best interest of our students and staff in mind. We are doing our part to “flatten the curve” and limit exposure to as many students, faculty, and staff as possible.

The week of March 23-26 will be a transition week for our campus, faculty, and staff as we work to move all services and instruction to an online format. During this week, offices will remain open, but will be working to move to remote services starting the following week. Please visit www.azwestern.edu/covid for updated information.

The few faculty members who have been meeting in small groups (10 or fewer) may still meet this week as they prepare to transition to fully online instruction. Remember, the week of March 30-April 2 is still Spring Break. While there is a break in instruction, our student services will still be available.

Some services are already available remotely:

  • The Academic Library is limiting access to the library facilities, but are still available to provide services. All online resources (databases, ebooks, online magazines) are available at www.azwestern.edu/library. Chat reference services are also available through the library website, and text reference services are available at 928-237-3650. You can reach the Library by phone at 928-344-7777 or by email at library@azwestern.edu.
  • Career and Advisement Services staff is available by email or Zoom chat at advisement.services@azwestern.edu. Staff is also preparing for virtual advising services through Self-Service. More information to come.

Faculty and staff are working hard to provide you the support you need to get across the finish line this semester. Your professors are finding creative ways to deliver course content and keep the learning going during this time. Please stay engaged in your education and do not hesitate to reach out (remotely, of course) to your professors and our staff members who are ready to support your success.

You can visit www.azwestern.edu/covid for updates. We will continue to update this page with helpful tips and resources for you as you work toward that finish line.

Thank you for your patience, flexibility, and persistence. You make us proud.
