AWC to Proclaim Nov. 8 First-Generation College Student Day


Celebration & Informational Fair Held for Current and Prospective First-Generation Students

Yuma, AZ (November 6, 2017) - Makaylla Reveles had a difficult time deciding where to go to college. She knew she wanted to be a teacher, but didn’t know where to start. The first person in her family to pursue higher education, she felt overwhelmed and alone trying to figure out which college would be the best fit. That was until her senior year of high school when her guidance counselor told her about Arizona Western College.

AWC’s CDLL Traditional Stone Soup Lunch on November 21


Yuma, AZ (November 6, 2017)- The Dr. Kathryn A. Watson Child Development Learning Laboratory (CDLL) at Arizona Western College will be having their traditional Stone Soup Lunch that will be shared with the children, their families and the AWC Community.  The event takes place on Tuesday, November 21st at 11:00am at the CDLL.

 

Public Invited to Practice Sign Language at the Library


Yuma, AZ (October 30, 2017) – Arizona Western College’s American Sign Language Deaf and Deaf Allies (ASL DADA) Club is inviting the community to come out and practice their sign language skills.

The club will be hosting ASL Coffee Chats at the Yuma Main Library, 2951 S. 21st Drive, every other week beginning Friday, Nov. 3, from 1 to 3 p.m. The meetings are open to the public.

Yuma and La Paz Residents to See Property Tax Savings


Yuma, AZ (October 24, 2017) – Arizona Western College District residents in Yuma and La Paz counties will notice a savings on their property taxes this year. Residents will see a onetime cost savings of 44.24% on the secondary property tax levy, due to over $2.4 million in reserve funds being applied to tax payer bond obligations.

Take-Over Concert Held at Lutes Casino


The Arizona Western College Jazz Ensemble will be performing during an upcoming Take-Over Concert at Lutes Casino, 221 S. Main St.

The event will be held on Saturday, Nov. 18, from 7:30 to 9 p.m. Lutes Casino will donate a percentage of every food order to benefit the Jazz Ensemble.
