AWC Parker Community Center utilized by various agencies


Parker, AZ (August 2, 2018) – The Arizona Western College Parker Community Center has been used as the venue for a variety of community activities and events when it’s not being used as classroom space.

The 11,200-square-foot facility, which opened in December of 2016, can also be converted into a large meeting area to accommodate 250 seated guests, dining style. The center also includes a fitness center, kitchen, and offices.

International exhibition of contemporary prints to be on display at AWC San Luis Learning Center


San Luis, AZ (Aug 2, 2018) – Images created by 53 printmakers from five countries will be featured at the Arizona Western College San Luis Learning Center as part of the Horned Toad Print Exchange II.

The international traveling exhibition is free for the community to attend and will be on display from August 15 to September 14. People can stop by to view the artwork at the AWC San Luis Learning Center, 1340 N. 8th Avenue, San Luis, Ariz., Monday through Thursday from 8 a.m. until 7 p.m. and on Friday from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m.

AWC to offer extended hours starting Aug. 1


Staff to be available for students 7 a.m. - 7 p.m.

Yuma, AZ (July 25, 2018) – Arizona Western College will be extending their daily hours of operation by two hours beginning Wednesday, August 1.

 After being open from 7 a.m. to 5 p.m. for decades, student-facing services at the AWC Yuma Campus will now be open until 7 p.m. Monday through Thursday.

Faculty member shares how AWC provided a foundation for his own higher education


Parker, AZ (July 19, 2018) – Arizona Western College helped prepare Rich Tozer in his pursuit of higher education. And now, as an Adjunct Professor of Sociology at the AWC Parker Learning Center, he’s using that same education to equip others for their future as well.

“My education at AWC set the foundation for my bachelor’s and master’s degrees,” said Tozer. “I gained the academic skills and confidence to stay academically focused to earn higher education degrees.” 

Leigh Loughead receives AATA Outstanding Post-Secondary Educator Award


Yuma, AZ (July 18, 2018) – Arizona Western College Agriculture Science Manager Leigh Loughead was recognized with the Outstanding Post-Secondary Educator Award by the Arizona Agriculture Teachers Association (AATA) during their awards banquet Tuesday. Nominated for the award by her peers, Loughead said it was humbling to be selected.

“I am extremely honored to be receiving this award,” said Loughead. “This award is recognition of the hard work and dedication that goes into teaching.”

She noted that the award also reflects the outstanding Agriculture Science program at AWC.

AWC Innovation Fund Committee Provides Funds For Business Incubator


AWC Students have opportunity to develop a business plan for their own inventions

Yuma, AZ (May 2, 2018) – The Arizona Western College Innovation Fund Committee granted money for the Matador Business Incubator.  This new concept will be available to AWC students that are admitted to the resource center this fall. Students will have access to resources, weekly seminars and hands on guidance from experienced professionals that could not otherwise afford consulting fees on their own.   Deadline for applications is August 20th
