AWC Foundation seeks to match funds, generate $18K for scholarships
Yuma, AZ (August 18, 2021) – The Consulate of Mexico in Yuma awarded the AWC Foundation with $9,000 for the IME Becas program during a check presentation event on July 22. The AWC Foundation is seeking to match the grant through fundraising efforts to offer 18 one-thousand-dollar scholarships for students. Currently, the AWC Foundation is halfway to its goal after receiving $4,500 in donations.

Event to also feature club booths, coffee, games, and music
Yuma, AZ (August 12, 2021) – In an effort to make college services and resources accessible to all, Arizona Western College is staying open late on Tuesday, August 17, and Wednesday, August 18.
The AWC After Hours event will be held at the Yuma Campus from 6 to 8 p.m. on both nights to help meet the needs of students who may not be able to visit the college during regular business hours.
Yuma, AZ (July 12, 2021) – Arizona Western College is bringing their Reg Fest event to Somerton on Tuesday, July 20, to reach out to prospective students in South Yuma County interested in enrolling for the Fall 2021 semester. AWC also recently held a Reg Fest event in San Luis.
Attendees can start the admission process, join a quick advisement session, apply for support resources, and walk away registered for classes. Parents will also have an opportunity to go to an informational session.
Initiative seeks to increase bachelor’s degree attainment in Yuma County
Yuma, AZ (June 16, 2021) – Arizona Western College today announced a new partnership with Arizona State University that will bring ASU Local to Yuma County. ASU Local combines online learning with in-person student support and provides a new point of access for students who want to attend ASU without leaving their home community. The program will be admitting students at the Arizona Western College (AWC) location for the spring 2022 semester.
Yuma, AZ (June 16, 2021) – Earlier today during a special meeting, the Arizona Western College District Governing Board approved the 2021-2022 Proposed Budget.
While the college’s budget is larger than it has been in previous years, a number of factors have made this budget unique.
Yuma/La Paz Counties’ Arizona Western College District has released its Truth in Taxation information for the fiscal year 2021-2022 budget, in compliance with Arizona Revised Statue 15-1461.01.
According to the Truth in Taxation information, the College is proposing a 0.63% increase in the primary tax rate over fiscal year 2020-2021. The current tax, inclusive of new construction, will provide an additional $953,545 in revenues. Including the tax increase, the total taxes owed on a $100,000 home will be $213.12.
