AWC to hold Mental Health First Aid certification training

AWC to hold Mental Health First Aid certification training

February 10, 2020

Yuma, AZ (February 10, 2020) – With mental health being a critical and growing public health issue, Arizona Western College will be holding an upcoming Mental Health First Aid training for students, staff, and community members to attend.

The free 8-hour certification course is designed to raise awareness and understanding, while also giving participants the skills to help someone who is developing a mental health problem or experiencing a mental health crisis. The course uses role-playing and simulations to demonstrate how to recognize and respond to warning signs or specific illnesses as well as reduce the stigma surrounding mental health.

AWC’s Health and Wellness Department will be hosting the training from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. on Thursday, February 20, in the Frances Morris Boardroom located in the 3C Building at the AWC Yuma Campus, 2020 S. Ave. 8E. Participants will have a one-hour break for lunch.
