Who is my Advisor?
Academic advising is done by Academic Advisors and by Division Advisors from different disciplines based on the degree or certificate you are pursuing.
DECLARED STUDENTS
If you have declared a major, you are encouraged to contact a Division Advisor. Division Advisors have specialized knowledge about your area of study and your specific major and can more accurately advise you in making decisions that will help you be more successful.
UNDECIDED STUDENTS
If you are an undecided student, you should meet with an Academic Advisor and ask for assistance on how to choose a major. AWC Advisors are trained to help you explore your academic and career goals. To schedule an appointment to meet with an advisor, please contact one of the offices listed on the right of this page.
With the help of an Academic Advisor, you can:
- Understand and utilize placement test results.
- Define and refine educational goals and objectives, and understand the consequences of alternative courses of action.
- Be provided information regarding the nature and purpose of higher education.
- Be encouraged to become an active participant in your educational planning and college life.
- Make appropriate course, certificate, and degree selections.
- Receive an unofficial evaluation of transfer credits.
- Become aware of transfer opportunities.
