What is Discover AWC?

Discover AWC is designed for all incoming students to provide them with the necessary information and resources to help them have a successful start and experience at AWC.  Participants will learn about AWC degrees and certificates, importance of assessment/placement test scores, tips on how to choose classes, ideas on how to build a semester schedule,  how to register for classes, how to use WebAdvisor, an introduction to Blackboard and TORO Webmail, academic support resources and services at AWC, and other important topics necessary for a successful transition into college.

Discover AWC is an exciting and informative opportunity for students taking their first step into college.

Who should attend Discover AWC?

Discover AWC is designed for all part-time or full-time student attending any AWC site.

No, Discover AWC is free!

What do I need to do to prepare for Discover AWC?

Students should: (1) complete assessment/placement through AWC Testing Services(2) set-up their AWC NetID Account (for access to WebAdvisor/Blackboard/TORO Webmail); (3) plan to make arrangements for tuition payment and/or apply for financial aid.

Does it matter what session I attend?

The earlier is usually better. As more students register, the more classes fill up and the fewer class selections are available.

Please fill out the EVALUATION FORM after attending a Discover AWC session.  This will help us to continuously improve our AOA sessions.

What is the next step after I attend Discover AWC?

Once you have attended a Discover AWC Session and are registered for classes, your next step is to attend an Explore AWC session. Explore AWC sessions will be offered weekly starting in June. During Explore AWC you will learn about resources and strategies that support your success as an AWC student. You will have the opportunity to meet other AWC students, locate your classes before the first day, learn about various ways to get involved on campus, and much more! Visit the Explore AWC web page for more information and to sign up for an Explore AWC session.
