The Stafford Loan Program at Arizona Western College is a four step online process.  Feel free to contact us at 928.344.7632 for additional information or assistance.

LOAN APPLICATION

NOTICE!! FAFSA must be submitted and verification (if necessary) complete before loans will be disbursed.
STEP ONE Click here for Entrance Counseling.  You will not receive any loan funds without this step being completed.  A completion score of 90% must be obtained.
STEP TWO Choose a Lender.  The lenders listed have been chosen by our institution because of superior customer service and outstanding savings.  However, you may choose a lender that is not listed.  For more information, please visit the specific lender's website or speak to an AWC Financial Aid officer.  We recommend that you choose your lender wisely.  Click for the AWC Lender List
STEP THREE Complete the Master Promissory Note application.  This step is completed in conjunction with the loan lender form.  You can sign the application online or print and send in to the lender.  For more information, speak with an AWC Financial Aid officer.
STEP FOUR Complete the Student Loan Request form.  The Financial Aid office needs this form in order to certify your loan for disbursement.  If you are requesting funds after the deadline, you will need to complete and submit a Petition for Loan Certification form as well as meet with the Loan Coordinator.
STEP FIVE Exit Counseling must be completed after graduation or a drop in attendance below six credits.  Neglecting this step may risk forfeiture of potential benefits.

LOAN REPAYMENT

After you graduate, leave school, or drop below half-time enrollment toward a degree, you have six (6) months before you begin repayment. This is called a grace period.

Your lender will send you information about repayment, and you will be notified of the date repayment begins.  However, you are responsible for beginning repayment on time, even if you do not receive this information.  Failing to make payments on your loan can lead to default as outlined in both your Entrance and Exit Counseling sessions. (Revisit those terms: EDTe$t Homework)
