AWC/NAU-Yuma Violence Prevention Program
Would you be able to recognize if one of your students or colleagues were a victim of a violent crime?
Would you be able to provide them with the appropriate referrals to reporting and support services?
AWC and NAU-Yuma have entered into a collaborative relationship with community partners to develop and strengthen victim services, education and training in the area of Violence Against Women on the shared main campus and on the AWC campus centers located throughout Yuma and La Paz Counties. Both are committed to providing safe and secure campuses and are involving their students, faculty, staff and community partners to create an effective prevention and response program.
Vital components of this program are educational workshops & presentations that provide awareness and information regarding prevention, reporting, and available support services. These programs are offered to full-time and associate faculty members, student body, and staff of both institutions, and will provide insights and information on:
- Myths and stereotypes associated with violence against women.
- The indicators and recognition of such acts.
- What to do if you are a victim and the available support programs.
The goal of this program is to have every faculty member, student, and staff member educated in the areas of Violence Against Women. This can be accomplished in a variety of ways; please contact the Violence Prevention Program Coordinator
- In-class presentations-- faculty members can donate class time for class presentations.
---"No Classes Cancelled" class substitution presentations
- Divisional/Departmental/Team workshops.
- Weekend or after hour workshops are available.
This program is grant supported by the Office on Violence Against Women, U.S. Department of Justice.
