MILITARY SERVICES

The AWC Military Services Office offers comprehensive service for active duty military, veterans, DOD employees, and their families at MCAS-Yuma and the Yuma Proving Grounds. You can receive academic advisement, register for courses, and attend classes at both installations.

Marine Corps Air Station-Yuma

Location:  Education Center
Bldg 850, Room 112

Office Hours:  Monday - Thursday : 0730 - 1600  & Friday: 0800 - 1200

Placement Testing: Available by appointment only on Tuesdays at 0900 or
Thursdays at 1100.

U.S. Army Yuma Proving Ground

Location:  USAG Yuma Education Center
Bldg 501, 2nd Floor

Office Hours:  Contact us to set up an appointment or stop in during one of the dates listed below from 1100 to 1600 to meet with an academic advisor.

Service Members Opportunity Colleges (SOC)

Arizona Western College is a participant in the Service Members Opportunity Colleges(SOC), a consortium of national higher education associations. As a participant of SOC Degree Network System, AWC maintains the necessary flexibility of programs and procedures to enhance access to educational opportunities.

Getting Credits for Military Experience and Service School

Arizona Western College accepts a maximum of 30 credits from non-traditional credit. When applicable, credit earned from Military training may be used for degree credit as equivalent courses in the major or as general electives up to the maximum number of credits prescribed by the specific program requirements.

"A Guide to the Evaluation of Education Experience in the Armed Services" published by the American Council on Education (ACE) is the basis for evaluating the training and experiences in military service.

A course evaluation may be requested by submitting an official copy of appropriate documentation directly to Arizona Western College. To request military transcripts, select the appropriate branch below:

ARMY/NAVY/MARINE: Joint Services Transcript (Formerly SMART)

AIR FORCE: Community College of the AirForce (CCAF)

COAST GUARD: United States Coast Guard/U.S. Department of Homeland Security
