| Resident Assistants are required to live on the AWC campus. Must have and maintain a minimum GPA of 2.5. They are members of the Residence Hall Staff and serve as representatives of the College. As such, they play an important role in the development of the residence hall life and have broad responsibilities for the social, academic, and emotional growth of the residential students who reside on their wing and on campus in general. In addition, because of their close contact with the students, Resident Assistants serve as an important liaison between the students and the College administrators and as resource persons through which College policies and mission statements can be interpreted to students and student needs can in turn be communicated back to the College. • Assists in identifying and reporting of maintenance and safety problems in residence halls. • Serves in an ON DUTY capacity for their residence hall, remaining on campus on a rotation with other staff. • Works the front desk from 7 PM – 10:30 PM in conjunction with duty nights. • Conducts scheduled health and safety checks of resident’s rooms weekly with Hall Director. • Establishes and maintains personal contact with every student in the living area. Knows each resident personally. • Helps establish an atmosphere that is conducive to academic achievement. • Completes each of these administrative tasks: roommate agreement; community living agreement. • Plans at least ten programs per semester. • Completes new bulletin boards monthly. • Creates door tags and policy posters at least 2 times a semester to promote community. • Submits a weekly report to the Hall Director. • Will be responsible for attending development and training in-service programs weekly. • Will be expected to return to AWC approximately three weeks before the start of school in the fall to participate in an in-depth staff development and training programs, as well as to assist in the opening of the residence halls for football, soccer and volleyball camp. • Will be expected to return to AWC approximately one week before the start of school in the winter to participate in an in-depth staff development and training programs, as well as to assist in the opening of the residence halls. |
