 AWC Student Government Association (SGA)

The AWC Student Government Association is an organized body of students that represents student interests by advocating student concerns, promoting a community atmosphere at AWC and improving student life by providing a variety of activities. The AWC Student Government Association serves as the voice of the entire student body and helps make decisions for the benefit of current and future students at Arizona Western College.

Involvement in SGA not only helps to ensure that AWC remains sensitive to the views of its students; it also provides learning experiences in leadership that are valued in Universities and employers. Each student's participation can help strengthen Student Government and we invite all AWC students to participate in SGA!

For more information, including questions about scholarship opportunities call 344-7581 or email us at SGA213@yahoo.com

Highlights from the 2010-2011 school year:

  • SGA held A Valentine’s Day Dance on February 10th2011 to increase student involvement.
  • SGA completed a “Random Acts of Kindness” were they went into the community and did acts of kindness such as, reading to elementary schools, cleaning up parks, visiting with senior citizens, etc.
  • SGA is collaborating with the LEAP program to help promote “math matters” by orchestrating an event that encourages students to solve math problems.
  • SGA is currently working with the publications department on ways to create a better venue for student concerns.
