awc student government association

Insofar as possible, college students are encouraged to assume the responsibility for self-government. The AWC Student Government Association (SGA) provides students with an excellent opportunity to play a key role on campus during their first two years of college. The SGA is established and recognized by the college for the purpose of promoting student activities and the general welfare of the student body. The authority of the SGA is that delegated by the District Governing Board and the administration of the College.

AWC Clubs

Agriculture Club
Advisor:James Williams

The "AG CLUB" gives opportunities for students in the AWC community to explore and learn about the many different aspects of business agriculture. You will be exposed to many different aspects of agriculture through a hands on approach.

Campus Crusade for Christ
Advisor:Vanessa Natseway

The Campus Crusade for Christ is a Christian based club focused on supporting Christian values for college aged students. This group welcomes anyone interested in growing as a Christian.

Early Childhood Education
Advisor: Alma Barrandey
Student President: Gina Giursetto

The Early Childhood Education Club is focused on providing support for the Child Development Learning Laboratory and to support students enrolled in EDU/ECE courses at AWC.

International Team
Advisor: Ken Kuntzelman
Student President: Thao Nguyen

The I-Team is focused on bringing a cultural perspective the AWC campus. This is done through programming and social events. The I-Team will focus on creating opportunities for the integration of international students in the AWC community.

Massage Therapy
Advisor: Kate Turpin
Student President: Irene Sanroman

The Massage Therapy Club will focus on educating students on both massage therapy and holistic healing. This will be done through social events and programming geared towards the general public, faculty, staff, and students.

Phi Theta Kappa/Honors
Advisor: Liz Renaud
Student President: Kevin Liby

Phi Theta Kappa will focus on programming and the support and implementation of the Honors Program at AWC. Additionally, this club will focus on philanthropic programming towards the betterment of the community.

Psychology Club

The Psychology Club will focus on activities that promote a better understanding of psychologically focused academia.

SIFE

Students In Free Enterprise is a business related club that will bring a practical approach to programming focused on marketing, business, and leadership oriented opportunities.

Student Nurses Association
Advisor: Cookie Little
Student President: Traci Penfield

The Student Nurses Association will focus on academic programming that will create opportunities for the Nursing students to add practical experiences to their academic work. This will be done through programming and educational activities.

Theater Club
Advisor: Chip Straley
Student President: Cris Gizzi

The Theater Club will focus on theatrical productions. There are two stage plays in the fall and two in the spring. To complete these plays the Theater Club makes arrangements for all aspects of the play, including but not limited to, stage management, rehearsals, lighting/sound, ticket sales, etc.
