Spend Thanksgiving Weekend with the best basketball action in the Desert Southwest! Eight talented basketball teams from three different states-and two different countries-will take over 'The House' on the Arizona Western College campus just after Thanksgiving Day for the
8th Annual Wells Fargo Classic-
presented by Wells Fargo Bank and Matador Athletics!
In 2011-12, the Wells Fargo Classic featured a competitive 4-team men's field!
3 of them went to the playoffs, 2 of them went to their respective region championship games, and one of them won the Region I Championship!!
And in 2011-12, the women's side of the Wells Fargo Classic field featured 2 teams that went to the playoffs, with both reaching their region finals!
This season, we're bringing you another strong eight-team tournament field, with four women's and four men's teams taking the floor each day.
Patrick Cunningham's '12 Region I Finalists, the AWC Lady Matadors, head a strong women's field that includes Region XIII Finalist Lake Region State College from North Dakota, Region I Semifinalist Cochise College and the Lady Zorros from CETYS Universidad from Mexicali, Baja California, Mexico!
Meanwhile, Charles Harral's Matador Men's Basketball team, fresh off their first Region I Championship since 2007, will face tough competition from a men's field that includes: Region XIII Semifinalist Lake Region State College from North Dakota; Phoenix College, who reached the Region I Division II Finals for the 7th straight year this past March; as well as the formidable Broncos from New Mexico Military Institute!
