Aug. 19th, 2014

YUMA, AZ – Former forward Darrious Hamilton, from the Matador Men’s Basketball team announced that he has signed his letter of intent to play basketball this upcoming season at Utah Valley University in Orem, Utah.
“We are very proud of Darrious,” said AWC head men’s basketball coach Charles Harral. “He made great strides during his one year in our program at AWC. We wish him the very best at Utah Valley University.”
Hamilton (San Antonio, TX) measured in at 6’8” and could hurt you both inside and outside. In the 2013-2014 season, Darrious Hamilton averaged 9.3 points per game and 6.6 rebounds per game. Hamilton played in 28 of the Matadors 32 games and started in 15 of them.
Utah Valley University is coming off a season in which they went 20-12 overall and 13-3 in the Western Athletic Conference (WAC). Utah Valley qualified last season for the N.I.T., but fell at California-Berkeley 77-64 to end their season. UVU has a lot of momentum heading into this season after a successful 2013-2014 campaign, and Darrious Hamilton looks to push Utah Valley further into the postseason this year.
The Matador men’s basketball team will begin their 2014-2015 regular season schedule with a pair of games in Price, Utah on October 31st and November 1st. First up, will be a match-up with the Colorado Kings on October 31st at 4:30pm.
