YUMA, AZ – The Arizona Community College Athletic Conference announced that Matadors infielder Irving Lopez and catcher Beau Cebulski have been named to the First Team All-ACCAC and First Team All-Region 1.
“Beau and Irving are well deserving of these accolades,” said head coach Drew Keehn. “They played well all season and the ACCAC coaches took notice of their performance by placing them on the All-Conference and Region Teams.”
Lopez (Yuma, AZ) took the ACCAC by storm in his freshman campaign playing the middle infield positions for the Matadors this season. He finished the season with a team best .385 batting average with a pair of homeruns and 34 RBI’s.
Cebulski (Las Animas, CO) was strong once again defensively for the Matadors and improved immensely for AWC at the plate. Cebulski finished the 2014 season with the second best batting average behind Irving Lopez on the team at .345. He had two homeruns and 28 RBI’s on the year in 49 games played.
“These are some great accolades for these two young men and the baseball team as a whole,” said AWC Athletics Director Jerry Smith. “Beau did great things his freshman season for us and it was amazing to see the strides he made this season. Irving played lights out with this being his freshman season. We always like to have local talent on our teams and Irving made us, his family and the city of Yuma proud.”
With these honors, both Irving Lopez and Beau Cebulski will be nominated for All-American status, which will be chosen following the NJCAA World Series on May 17th.
