YUMA, AZ – Sophomore forward Samantha Wallace of the Matador women’s basketball team was named to the NJCAA Division 1 All-American Third Team, which was announced on Thursday afternoon.
With this award, Wallace has now been named to the list in back-to back years. Following her freshman campaign, Wallace was named to the Honorable Mention team in 2013.
“We are very happy for Samantha, and proud of what she has done for this program for the past two years,” said AWC head coach Patrick Cunningham. “The tradition and history in this program has been strong throughout the years and Samantha is continuing that tradition by joining many Matadors from the past that have also been named to this prestigious list. We wish nothing but the best for Samantha as she continues her playing career at the next level.”
Wallace finished her career at AWC by averaging a team best 14.3 points per game this past season. She also averaged a team best 10.5 rebounds per game and 3.2 blocks per game.
Wallace is currently deciding where she will attend school and play basketball next season. Stay tuned to Matador Athletics for all news on signings, schedule releases and news on incoming recruits by visiting our webpage, Facebook page, or by following our Twitter handle @AWCMatadors.
