Anthony Alston Wins ACCAC Player of the Week
Derek Diesner
Feb. 18th, 2014

YUMA, AZ – Point Guard Anthony Alston of the Matador men’s basketball team has been named as the ACCAC Division-One Player of the Week; this is the third time this season that a Matador has received this award.

With this award, Alston joins the likes of fellow AWC guards Ali Faruqbey and Ron Lee as the lone Matadors to be named as the ACCAC Player of the Week this season.

“We are very proud of Anthony’s performance over the past two seasons,” said AWC head coach Charles Harral. “We are very excited for him to receive this award!”

Alston began his week against South Mountain, where the guard scored 14 points on 4-for-8 shooting from the field and was 5-for-7 from the free-throw line. Then this past Saturday, he scored 19 points on a perfect 13-for-13 from the free-throw line.

Alston and his teammates will return to the court tonight to take on the Pima Aztecs in Tucson. Tonight’s games can be heard on the radio at 560 KBLU-AM. Our pre-game coverage begins at 5:20pm followed by the women’s game at 5:30pm and then the men’s game at 7:30pm.
