YUMA, AZ Ė The Arizona Western College Lady Matadors swept the Chandler-Gilbert Lady Coyotes on Wednesday afternoon by finals of 14-2 in five innings and then 7-1 in ACCAC action in Yuma.
With the victory, the AWC Lady Matadors improve to 6-2 overall and 4-0 in ACCAC play, while Chandler-Gilbert falls to 0-8 overall and 0-6 in ACCAC play.
In game one, the Lady Matador offense was out to prove a point as they scored at least one run in each of their four offensive innings on their way to a 14-2 rout of Chandler-Gilbert. The Lady Mats accounted for a run in the first, another in the second, four in the third and eight runs in the fourth inning to seal the deal.

Game two was much of the same as the Lady Mats struck for seven runs in the third inning for a 7-1 victory to complete the sweep of Chandler-Gilbert. AWC was led offensive by Bethany Olea who went 3-for-4 with a run scored and an RBI. Baylee Boren finished the game 2-for-3 with two RBIís and a run scored and April Marquez hit a three-run homer for her lone knock of the game.
Once again starting pitching was key, as AWC starter Ashley Rex (2-2) went the distance and allowed just a run on five hits while striking out two.
