Jaclyn Pierson Wins ACCAC Pitcher of the Week

Feb. 10th, 2014

YUMA, AZ – For the first time this season, sophomore pitcher Jaclyn Pierson (Yuma, AZ) from the Lady Matador softball team has won the Division-One Pitcher of the Week award.
“As a relief pitcher, Jackie came in and did her job well during both the North Idaho and Western Nevada games,” said AWC head coach Nikki Bethurum. “She was able to come in during both games and help shut down the opposing team's offense to help get us the win.”
In AWC’s wins over North Idaho and Western Nevada, Pierson did not allow an earned run in either game in her six innings of work. She struckout six batters and walked just three in those two outings combine.
The Lady Mats have another busy week this week as continue their season long six game homestand on Tuesday against Chandler-Gilbert and then on Saturday AWC welcomes Scottsdale to town. Both contests this week will be doubleheaders starting at 12noon at the AWC Softball Complex.
