Matador Women Contain Glendale

YUMA, AZ – The Arizona Western College Matadors defeated Glendale Saturday evening by a final of 53-32 at “The House” in Yuma.
With the victory, the AWC Matadors improve to 15-7 overall and 11-3 in ACCAC play, while Glendale falls to 6-15 overall and 5-9 in ACCAC play.
In a low scoring first half of play that featured outstanding defense, the Matadors had a balanced scoring attack which gave them a 20-17 advantage at the break.
The second half was a different story, as AWC shot 50% from the field compared to just 19% from Glendale enroot to a 53-32 victory. The Matadors outscored the Gauchos by 18 in the second half alone.
Arizona Western was led in the scoring department by Sefulu Faavae, who came off the bench to score 10 points of 4-of-6 shooting.
The Matadors hit the road this Wednesday night to take on their rivals, the Eastern Arizona Lady Gila Monsters. The women tip off at 5:30pm and the game can be heard live on 560 KBLU-AM with our pre-game coverage beginning at 5:20pm.
