YUMA, AZ – Shooting Guard Ron Lee of the Matador men’s basketball team has been named as the ACCAC Division-One Player of the Week; this is the second time this season that a Matador has received this award.
“We are happy for Ron’s contribution to our team this past week,” said AWC Head Coach Charles Harral. “His success would not have been possible without great passing and screening from the rest of his teammates.”
Lee helped lead his Matador teammates to a one-point upset victory over Mesa last Wednesday on the Thunderbirds home court. Lee led the Matadors with 16 points on 6-of-14 shooting from the field with six rebounds.
On Saturday against Pima, Lee played a team high 31 minutes and led the team once again with 27 points on 9-of-17 shooting. He was 7-of-15 behind the three-point arc and also tallied three rebounds and three assists.
Lee and his teammates will return to the court this Wednesday to take on the Tohono O’odham Jegos inside of “The House.” Wednesday’s game is scheduled to start at 7:30pm; immediately following the AWC and Tohono O’odham women’s basketball game. If you can’t make it to the games in person, both games can be seen and heard live on television and the radio on AWC-TV and on 560 KBLU-AM; with our pre-game coverage getting underway at 5:20pm.
