Matadors Achieve Above A 3.0 GPA

YUMA, AZ – Arizona Western College is proud to announce that all eight Matador and Lady Matador teams have combined for a 3.0 Grade Point Average for the fall semester.
AWC teams include Football, Volleyball, Men’s and Women’s Soccer, Men’s and Women’s Basketball, Baseball and Softball.
“We are extremely excited about the success of our student-athletes,” said AWC Athletics Director Jerry Smith.
Of the eight teams, Volleyball placed the highest with a GPA of 3.7.
“This is the highest our team GPA has been since I’ve been at AWC,” said Head Coach Jason Smith. “This team has made me look good and I am so proud of their accomplishments this season both on and off the court.”
Altogether, 42 student-athletes were named to the Fall Dean’s List at Arizona Western College.
“We really treasure these students’ academic success and are ultimate goal is to move these athletes onto the next level,” said Jerry Smith.
All Matador teams are off for winter break and most won’t return until the new year. The Matador women’s basketball team will be the first back to campus as they will take part in the MiraCosta College Holiday Festival tournament from December 27th-29th. AWC begins play against Saddleback College with a 1pm (MST) tip time on the 27th. All three games can be heard live online by visiting the Matador Sports Network.
