YUMA, AZ – The Arizona Western College Matador women’s basketball team remains in the NJCAA Division Top 25 National Poll, despite a loss last week at Cochise.
Arizona Western was ranked 13th last week, but dropped eight spots to 21st following their close road loss at Cochise last Wednesday. AWC is currently 7-4 overall and 4-2 in ACCAC play.
“We are proud to carry the banner for the ACCAC,” said AWC head coach Patrick Cunningham. “We are very fortunate to still be considered by the NJCAA and we hope to remain in the Top 25 by virtue of winning Thursday.”
AWC dropped their lone game in close fashion last week in Douglas against Cochise College by a final of 59-56.
The Matadors have been off since last Wednesday to help with the Fisher Automotive El Toro Bowl and to prepare for finals which are taking place this week across the Arizona Western College campus.
The Matadors return to the court this Thursday at Phoenix College, with a scheduled tip time of 5:30pm. Both the AWC women’s and men’s game can be heard live on the radio at 560 KBLU-AM, with our pre-game coverage getting underway at 5:20pm.
