YUMA, AZ – Arizona Western College middle blocker Maria del mar Guzman Franco of the Lady Matador Volleyball team has been named to the NJCAA All-American First Team.
“Maria had an amazing year and is truly a team player,” said AWC head coach Jason Smith. “She is the first freshman that I have ever had that has made All-American. The sky is the limit for her and this team next year.”
Guzman Franco ranked third on the AWC squad with 227 kills this season. The talented freshman also tallied 491 assists and 35 digs.
The Lady Matador volleyball team finished their season with an overall mark at 20-6. The Lady Mats were the ACCAC, Region 1 and District C champions this season which led them to an appearance in this year’s NJCAA National Championship tournament.
