YUMA, AZ – The Top 20 National Poll for women’s volleyball was released Wednesday morning by the NJCAA and Arizona Western College fell two spots from 11th to 13th in the nation following a loss Friday night at Eastern Arizona. AWC’s record currently sits at 13-3 overall and 9-2 in ACCAC play.
AWC earned 24 points in the poll this week, three points less than the Paris Junior College which is ranked just above the Matadors at 12th in the most recent volleyball poll. San Jacinto College-Central is ranked just below the Lady Matadors at 14th with three points less than AWC.
Florida State College at Jacksonville was the lone team to drop from the rankings this week, after being ranked 19th in last week’s poll. Laredo Community College moves into the Top 20 replacing Florida State-Jacksonville in this week’s poll, after receiving votes last week.
Four schools are receiving votes, but still are not ranked in the Top 20 and those are Polk State, Florida State College at Jacksonville, Odessa College and Gulf Coast College.
Up next for the Lady Matadors is a home match later this (Wednesday) evening against the Pima Aztecs. The match is scheduled to begin at 7pm inside of “The House” on the campus of Arizona Western College.
