YUMA, AZ – The Top 20 National Poll for women’s volleyball was released Wednesday morning by the NJCAA and Arizona Western College moved up three spots from 14th to 11th in the nation following a pair of victories against Mesa and Eastern Arizona last week.
AWC earned 30 points in the poll this week, three points less than the Miami Dade College which is ranked just above the Matadors at 10th in the most recent volleyball rankings. The College of Central Florida is ranked just below the Lady Matadors at 12th with three points less than AWC.
Polk State was the lone team to drop from the rankings this week, after being ranked 18th in last week’s poll. Hill College moves into the Top 20 replacing Polk State in this week’s poll, after receiving votes last week.
Five schools are receiving votes, but still are not ranked in the Top 20 and those are Pole State, Hutchinson C.C., Laredo C.C., Indian River State College, and Colby C.C.
Up next for the Lady Matadors is a road match later this week against their cross state rivals, the Eastern Arizona Gila Monsters. The match on Friday is scheduled to begin at 7pm in Thatcher.
