Series of rainstorms hitting Coolidge over last 24 hours forces CAC officials to call off ACCAC twin bill
Yuma, Arizona – March 8, 2013 -- Arizona Western College has announced that the ACCAC Softball doubleheader between the AWC Lady Matadors and the Central Arizona Vaqueras-scheduled for Saturday at noon in Coolidge, Arizona-has been officially postponed. The storms that have blanketed much of Arizona over the last 24 hours have continued to drench the Vaqueras’ softball field, and the threat of more weather before the end of the day prompted CAC officials to conclude that the field conditions are unplayable for tomorrow’s games. A reschedule date has not been announced as of yet.
The Lady Matadors’ next doubleheader will be this Tuesday, March 12th, as they head to Thacher to face the 8th-ranked Eastern Arizona Lady Gila Monsters in an ACCAC Softball doubleheader. First pitch for the twin bill is scheduled for noon. The Lady Matadors’ next home doubleheader is scheduled for Tuesday, March 19th, when they host the Gateway Lady Geckos in an ACCAC doubleheader, and admission to all regular season AWC Softball games is free.
The AWC Baseball team’s scheduled conference doubleheader against Glendale Community College is still expected to be played as scheduled tomorrow at noon at Kammann Field on the AWC campus (2020 South Avenue 8E in Yuma). Admission to the doubleheader is FREE.
