Defending Region I Champs make first appearance of season at #23

Colorado Springs, CO – January 29, 2013 -- Arizona Western College is proud to announce that for the first time this season, the Matador Men’s Basketball team is ranked 23rd in the latest NJCAA Division I Men’s Basketball Poll released earlier today. The ranking also ends a two-year drought of national respect for the Matadors, who are making their first appearance in the NJCAA Poll since January 11th, 2011. The Matadors extended their current winning streak to 7 games Saturday as they handled Scottsdale Community College, 76-51. The Matadors are one of 4 ACCAC Men’s Basketball teams ranked in the polls this week (Central Arizona (17th) & Cochise (24th) in Division I; Phoenix (20th) in Division II). The Matadors return home tomorrow night to host Chandler-Gilbert in an ACCAC Basketball doubleheader.
