42-37 win over Nassau in 2012 El Toro Bowl earns 4th consecutive season-ending finish in NJCAA Top 10
Colorado Springs, CO – December 3, 2012 -- Arizona Western College is proud to announce that the Matador Football team has moved back into the top 10 in the final NJCAA Football Regular Season Poll released late this afternoon. The Matadors-fresh off their first postseason victory in 40 years: a 42-37 win over Nassau Community College (who dropped from 6th to 11th in the poll with the loss) in the 2012 El Toro Bowl-presented by Alexander Automotive Group-jumped five big spots from 12th to 7th in the final voting. The #7 ranking is the 11th time they’ve been in the NJCAA Top 10 in the 13 polls released this year, and also marks the fourth consecutive year that they’ve finished 9th or better in the final poll. The Matadors finished the year with an 8-2 overall record.
