50-point outburst at Phoenix Saturday keeps Matadors among top 3 in nation
Colorado Springs, CO – October 9, 2012 -- Arizona Western College is proud to announce that for the second straight week, the Matador Football team is ranked among the top three teams in the latest NJCAA Football Regular Season Poll released earlier today. The Matadors-who defeated Phoenix College, 50-7, Saturday night in the Valley of the Sun-remained in the #3 spot, which is where the Matadors began the season in the NJCAA Preseason Poll. It’s the 5th time in the seven polls that the NJCAA has released this season that the Matadors are 3rd-best in the nation. The Matadors stayed behind top-ranked Iowa Western Community College (203 points) and 2nd-ranked Butler (KS) Community College(182 points) with 178 points. The Matadors will have this weekend off before returning to action by hosting Mesa Community College on Homecoming Night, Saturday night, October 20th at Veterans Memorial Stadium in Yuma at 7PM.
