Defensive-minded win at Eastern Arizona apparently doesn’t impress pollsters
Colorado Springs, CO – October 2, 2012 -- Arizona Western College is proud to announce that the Matador Football team is still ranked among the top three teams in the latest NJCAA Football Regular Season Poll released earlier today. Unfortunately, the Matadors-who overcame a major test Saturday night with a 20-6 over Eastern Arizona College in Thatcher-dropped one spot from 2nd to 3rd this week in the poll, falling out of their highest national ranking since the #1 ranking they held last November going into the 2011 El Toro Bowl. The Matadors switched places with last week’s #3 team, Butler (KS) Community College, who received one of the 5 possible first-place votes and moved 1 ˝ points ahead of AWC (182 points to 180.5). The Matadors will finish off their current two-game road trip at Phoenix College this Saturday night, October 6th.
