Matador Football Releases 2014 Schedule
Derek Diesner
Mar. 17th, 2014

YUMA, AZ –Arizona Western College head football coach Tom Minnick announced his 2014 regular season schedule to the public which features five home games and four road games leading up to the El Toro Bowl on Saturday December 6th at Veterans Memorial Stadium.
“It’s going to be tough going into it,” said head coach Tom Minnick. “Starting the season against the El Toro Bowl Champions followed by a pair of road games, makes it a difficult start for us. However we will be up for the challenge and we are excited for the upcoming season.”
The Matadors open the season at home on Saturday August 23rd against the same team they ended last season with, the New Mexico Military Institute Broncos. This rematch of the 2013 Fisher Automotive El Toro Bowl is guaranteed to be a game for the ages with revenge on the mind of the Matadors.
Following the home opener, the Mats will hit the road for two weeks with games at Scottsdale (August 30th) and at Snow College (September 6th). The Matadors will return home on September 13th for a quick game with Eastern Arizona before hitting the road once again on September 20th for a WSFL clash with the Phoenix College Bears.
The Matadors return to AWC on September 27th to take on Pima, where they will play three of their final four games at home in the friendly confines of Veterans Memorial Stadium. Following the Pima game, the Matadors will host Glendale, hit the road for a game at Mesa and then close out the regular season on October 18th against a non-conference opponent in the United States of America Air Force Academy Prep squad.
All home games are scheduled to kickoff at 7pm local time besides the regular season finale which is still to be determined. All road games will also start at 7pm Arizona time except for the game at Snow College which will kickoff at 11am Arizona time on September 6th.
