Jun. 10th, 2013

1st week of 15th Annual event kicks off June 24th; Week 2 to be held in late July

Yuma, Arizona Ė June 10, 2013 -- Arizona Western College is proud to announce that the 15th Annual Matador Basketball Camp will include two different weeks of opportunities for kids to better their basketball skills from some of the top coaches and players in the area. For the first time this year, the two weeks of camp will be spread out over two months. Session 1 will be held from June 24h through the 27th, and Session 2 will be held from July 29th through August 1st. Both sessions will be held at 'The House'-AWC's gymnasium (2020 South Avenue 8E in Yuma). The camp will be run by AWC Men's Head Basketball Coach Charles Harral, AWC Womenís Head Basketball Coach Patrick Cunningham, menís assistant coaches Kyle Isaacs & Dominique Richardson, womenís assistant coach Regina Schlichter, as well as current and former Matador Menís and Womenís Basketball players. Campers will each receive a free AWC camp basketball and T-shirt.

Both weeks are open to all boys and girls between kindergarten and 12th grade. The sessions will run from 7AM through 5PM each day, with lunch to be provided during each day of the camp that week. There will also be activities outside of the court, including tours of the AWC campus with coaches and players, and visits to the new game room in the AWC Campus Life Department in the 3C. There will also be several guest speakers at the camp to give their expertise on the game of basketball. The cost for each camper is just $150, and parents can register campers in one of two ways: 1) by contacting Laura Rios between now and 5PM on the Thursday prior to the week of camp either by phone ((928) 344-7700) or e-mail (laura.rios@azwestern.edu); or by arriving at "The House" prior to the start of the camp on that Monday morning (June 24th or July 29th), between 6:30AM and 7AM.
