AWC Marks 50th Year Serving the Yuma Community College is collecting memories, memorabilia, donations for 2013/14 celebrations
Yuma, AZ (April 22, 2013)— Yuma County’s only community college opened its doors 50 years ago this year. The college community will celebrate this milestone through the 2013/2014 academic year. However, the college is currently seeking the community’s help in gathering memories and memorabilia to share during the year-long celebration.
If you have memorabilia: Please consider sharing it for display or for reproduction (photography or video) at the main campus of AWC. The switchboard/information desk in the College Community Center (3C) can collect your items, Monday – Thursday, noon – 5:00pm. You may loan or donate your items to the school. Suggested items include: photos, newspaper stories, logo’d merchandise, club or sports material, or items from the earliest days of the college.
If you have memories or stories about AWC: Please consider sharing your story with our TV Services crew. Interview appointments are now being scheduled through the office of Dr. Linda Elliott-Nelson, (928)344-7516 or AWC50th@azwestern.edu. These interviews may be shared via college cable television, KAWC Public Media, the college web site, or on campus at listening/viewing kiosks.
If you would like to donate to the college: In celebration of the 50th Anniversary, a list of suggested projects that are seeking donations has been created. “50 Ways to Love Your College” includes everything from park benches to science equipment to bike racks. This one-time donation to the AWC Foundation will help sustain AWC into the next 50 years.
