AWC’s New Ag Endowment Fund Created to “Grow Education”

Yuma, AZ (March 19, 2013)— The Arizona Western College Foundation has been working with the agriculture industry/businesses in Yuma County to create the new “Arizona Western College Field of Dreams Agriculture Endowment Fund, in an effort to provide scholarships for AWC students majoring in agriculture professions. Many area students begin their college education by completing their first two years at AWC prior to transferring to the University of Arizona or another university.

The Foundation’s goal for the Fund is a minimum of $25,000, and the gift will live in perpetuity. The Foundation will never use the principal, but will award scholarships based on the interest only. Thus, each donor gift will impact the agriculture industry for generations.

When the Foundation reaches its goal, each company name will be listed individually on the Foundation’s donor recognition kiosk in the 3C Building on AWC’s main campus. The Foundation will also place a half-page advertisement in the Yuma Sun to thank its donors for “growing education” in Yuma.

Donor levels are as follows:
Platinum Donor: $2,500 or above
Gold Donor: $1,000 to 2,499
Friend of Agriculture Donor: Below $1,000

The Foundation has currently received $1,000 from JV Smith Companies.

Businesses interested in being a part of growing education in Yuma County may contact Christina Hawkey, Executive Director of the AWC Foundation, at christina.hawkey@azwestern.edu, or (928) 344-1723.
