College Foundation meets Year 1 goal

College Foundation meets Year 1 goal, kicks off Year 2 of matching money

Yuma, AZ (December 17, 2012) — Arizona Western College Foundation is happy to announce that the first year of Dreams to Reality met local donation expectations, and the second year is off and running to create an endowment of “forever money” that will benefit students for decades and generations to come.

During the second year, the Foundation will focus on more community outreach and education to create awareness for the endowment, as well as promoting the positive economic impact an educated and skilled workforce can have on a community.

In September of this year, the AWC Foundation, based on generous support from faculty, staff and community members, was able to pull down the first year match in a five-year fundraising campaign called Dreams to Reality. This campaign was made possible by the successful grant application called Steps to Success, which AWC won in 2010, creating a federally-funded match for all local donations to a specific endowment up to $1,000,000. The donations are on a timed schedule and annual goals must be met to maximize the match.

Jane Peabody, AWC Coordinator of Physical and Wellness Education, and new AWC Foundation Board Member says, “As foundation donors, we really believe in the Dreams to Reality concept. Contributing to this endowment means your donation will never go away. It’s going to be available for scholarships for as long as this college exists.”
