Beginning Spanish for Healthcare Professionals Offered for Spring Semester
Yuma, Arizona (November 27, 2012) – Working as a healthcare professional requires learning a specialized vocabulary, and there is also a growing demand for professional bilingual healthcare professionals who can communicate effectively with Spanish-speaking patients.
To help meet that demand, AWC is offering SPA 117 Beginning Spanish for Healthcare Professionals, a new three-credit hour class with a conversational approach to healthcare Spanish with no prerequisites. In this course, students will learn basic key words and phrases within the context of common healthcare situations. Learning medical Spanish not only helps providers build confidence when speaking or treating Spanish-speaking patients, but it also helps them complete their work more efficiently.
The Class begins in Spring 2013 and will meet Monday and Wednesday from 5:55 to 7:10 p.m. in room 165 of the Entrepreneurial Center, 1351 S. Redondo Center Drive in Yuma. Instructors engage students and reinforce learning by doing role-plays, pair activities, small group activities, videos and games.
For more information, please contact Brian Beeles, Professor of Spanish, at brian.beeles@azwestern.edu, or (928) 317-7523.
