Tutor-facilitated Workshops Being Held at Writing Center
Videoconferencing available for off-site campuses
Yuma, AZ (September 19, 2012) — This semester, the AWC Writing Center is offering a new series of workshops, Tutor Talk, which is facilitated by its writing tutors. The workshops are being held most Tuesdays from 3 to 4 p.m. in SC 206 and are also available via videoconference in San Luis, Parker, and Quartzite.
Tutor Talk workshops incorporate successful writing strategies with strategies for academic success and are drawn on the “habits of mind” that the Council of Writing Program Administrators refers to as intellectual and practical ways of approaching learning that will support student success.
Writing Center tutors are students who have successfully completed AWC coursework and are thus ideally suited to share their experiences and knowledge with other students through Tutor Talk workshops.
Students may register for the workshops at the Writing Center, or by calling (928) 317-6171. Students who attend for extra credit in a given course need to request a pink slip at the end of each workshop.
