3C: The Journey and Beyond: AWC Welcomes New Students

Yuma, Arizona (July 6, 2010) – Arizona Western College is welcoming new students with an evening full of fun and educational planning opportunities. As a new student, sometimes there are preconceived notions of how college life will be. To help assist with this, AWC is proud to present the “3C The Journey and Beyond” Student and Parent Super Saturday Orientation event. The orientation will be held on Saturday, August 14th in the College Community Center (3C) from 3:30-11pm. Registration begins at 2:45 for traditional students and 4:00 for non-traditional and part-time students.

For the first time this year’s event will include entertainment for families. Organizers have invited local bands, a stilts walker, and bounce houses to help parents and families keep children entertained during the orientation process. “We want this to be easy and fun for all students,” commented Leslie McClellon, AWC Dean of Student Retention and Support Services. “Parents with children often feel that orientation is not for them or they cannot come. Student Services has taken orientation a step further and are making it a fun night for families while the future AWC students get their educational needs met.”

New students are requested to attend the orientation which will offer practical information for college life and an important sense of community. Students will have the opportunity to obtain their student ID’s, discuss future educational plans with the advisors and register for classes. Both traditional and non-traditional students are invited. Students and parents need to make reservations early to guarantee spots.

Please let us know if there are any needs for Sign Language or Spanish interpretation. There will be free T-shirts to the first 100 to register plus other great giveaways. RSVP 24/7 to the hotline at 928-344-7702 or email at advising@azwestern.edu
