AWC’s Fattest to Fittest
Yuma, Arizona (October 29, 2009) – Arizona Western College has stepped up to the plate…and has created a team for the Yuma’s Fattest to Fittest contest. AWC’s Director of Human Resources has taken on the responsibilities of the team captain and is excited to have over 30 AWC employees on her team.
Gail Perry will be the point of contact for the AWC team. However, the AWC interim Coordinator for AWC’s Physical and Wellness Education department is also helping out. Jane Peabody has offered to assist the team members in various ways. The AWC Fitness Center can be accessed by AWC students for use in the weigh loss challenge. Also there are numerous classes offered at AWC on nutrition and other forms of exercise to assist the members of the AWC team in reach their goals.
AWC’s Fattest to Fittest team is a offshoot of the Yuma’s Fattest to Fittest challenge that was declared earlier in the month when Yuma was announced by the Center for Disease Control (CDC) as being listed in the top 10 of the most fattest cities in the United States. Yuma challenged Yakima, Washington to a Fattest to Fittest Contest because Yakima is demographically closest to Yuma and also fell in the top 10 cities.
