Success Center tutor qualifications:
ENGLISH/WRITING TUTORS:
- Must have completed Eng 101 and Eng 102 with a grade of B or better
- Must have recommendation from instructor or proof of course completion
- Must be able to demonstrate good written and oral communication skills
MATH TUTORS:
- Must have completed math 151 or higher with a grade of B or better
- Must have recommendation from instructor or proof of course completion
- Must be able to demonstrate good oral communication skills
OTHER TUTORS:
- Must be able to demonstrate good written and oral communication skills
- Must have completed course to be tutored or higher with a grade of B or better
- Must have recommendation from instructor or proof of course completion
Arizona Western College offers a Tutor Training program which is certified through the College Reading and Learning Association (CRLA). This training program prepares incoming tutors prior to working with students. Each incoming tutor must complete specific learning modules in an online course which teaches them best-practices and tutoring strategies. EDU 102 is a one credit course and is taken online through Blackboard.
