 ALL USA and ALL-Arizona

Each year faculty and staff of Arizona Western College may nominate two AWC students to represent the College in the ALL USA competition by Phi Theta Kappa, the International Honor Society for the Two Year College, and USA Today.

According to the Phi Theta Kappa website, "The All-USA Academic Team for Community Colleges competition is sponsored by Phi Theta Kappa, the American Association of Community Colleges and USA TODAY. This program recognizes scholarly achievements and leadership accomplishments of students enrolled in community, technical and junior colleges."

To be eligible a student must:
1. Be a sophomore who will graduate this academic year (summer included)

2. Have a GPA of at least 3.25

The judging by the Honor’s Committee is based upon a student application packet consisting of:
1. Documentation of Academic Achievement (copies of transcripts) and Community Service (resume or similar summary).

2. Faculty Letter of Support

3. Student Essay: What education means to me (400 word maximum).

These students will receive a $300 scholarship, $1000 if named to the All-Arizona Top 10 Team, and $2,500 if named to the All-USA National Team. The competition is held annually. The deadline is announced each year in the fall, and is usually due in late October or early November. Please contact the honor’s office to confirm the deadline when you apply.

Selected Sigma Beta ALL USA Scholars will accompany the advisor to a statewide gathering of ALL USA Scholars, normally in Phoenix, where each community college president presents their awards, including scholarship vouchers.
