Quartzsite Learning Center
Personal Enrichment ClasS
Keyboard Donation

Eileen Ostergren, Learning Support Coordinator of the Quartzsite Learning Center writes, "We had our first piano keyboarding class here at the Quartzsite Learning Center in the spring (2011) when we were able to recruit a local school teacher, Lisa DeHaven, to teach it for us. It is a personal enrichment class that we thought would be popular with our winter visitors. We started with a couple of used keyboards that were donated and students bringing in small keyboards of their own. As it turned out, we had enough interest from local (full-time) residents that we started another class in May. The local VFW Post 769 heard a radio announcement regarding our efforts to raise money to buy more keyboards, and responded. They donated $335, which was enough for us to purchase three more new keyboards and five headphone sets. The AWC Foundation created the donation account and purchased the equipment for us. The new keyboards arrived shortly after we began the class in May, and our present piano students have enjoyed them immensely! We are very grateful for the generosity of the local VFW Post 769 and plan to hold many more piano classes in the future."
