What can you do with this degree?
Following successful completion of the nursing program, and passing a national standardized exam, you will be qualified to work as a registered nurse (RN) in a variety of health care settings. The program also offers an exit option at the practical nurse level. After completing the first two semesters of the associate degree program, you can take the Transition to Practical Nursing class, which prepares you for licensure as a practical nurse (LPN).
What will you learn in this program?
This program will provide you with the knowledge to care for individuals and families needing health care or health care education. You will be able to practice nursing in a variety of settings including healthcare facilities, such as hospitals, long-term care facilities, clinics, and community agencies such as schools, businesses, public health, and an increasing number of community services.
What kinds of classes can you look forward to in this program?
The program includes courses in English, math, science, human development, psychology, and culture. These courses are needed to meet the college’s general education requirements for an associate degree, and they are the foundation necessary for a career in nursing. The core nursing courses prepare you to provide care to infants, children, adolescents, and adults of all ages with a variety of health care needs.
How long will it take you to complete this degree?
You must have completed or be enrolled in the program prerequisites in order to apply for acceptance into the nursing program. Once accepted into the nursing program, you can complete the degree in two years.
