Automotive Brakes and Suspension Certificate


What can you do with this certificate?

This certificate will give you the basic knowledge in automotive brakes and suspension that will help prepare you to obtain an entry-level position within the field.

What will you learn in this program?

Completing this program will signify to your potential or current employers that you have completed the necessary steps to obtain an entry level position as a general or specialized technician.

What kinds of classes can you look forward to in this program?

Automotive Suspension
You will be introduced to chassis service, overhaul of front end components with an emphasis on wheel alignment, wheel balancing, and tire service. This class is designed to give you hands-on shop skills using automotive tools and equipment, performing repair and maintenance techniques on the automotive chassis.

Automotive Brakes

This class will give you an introduction to overhaul and reconditioning procedures for drum and disc brake systems and operation and service of the anti-lock brake systems.

Automotive Electrical Systems

Introduction to electricity, storage battery, cranking motor fundamentals, regulator operations, ignition systems, automotive accessories and computer systems.

How long will it take you to complete this certificate?
Taking classes full-time, you can complete this 16-credit certificate in two semesters.
