Automotive Mechanic (Occupational Certificate)

What can you do with this certificate?
You can obtain a position as an automotive technician or any other related entry-level position within the field.

What will you learn in this program?
You will gain competency in a variety of automotive systems and will learn necessary skills to enable you to diagnose and perform corrective procedures accurately. This program is designed to prepare you to take the Automotive Service Excellence certification exams.

What kinds of classes can you look forward to in this program?

Automotive Engines
In this course you will learn automotive terminology and the design of automotive engines. Theory of operation and procedures of engine overhaul will be discussed including heads, cylinder block, and other parts of the engine.

Automotive Brakes
You will learn the different parts, designs, and materials within braking systems. You will also learn the theory and operation of modern automobile brake systems along with anti-lock brakes.

Automotive Electrical Systems Applications
This lab will provide hands-on experience in automotive electrical components and the diagnosis and replacement of electrical components.

How long will it take you to complete this certificate?
Taking classes full-time, you can complete this 36-credit certificate in two or three semesters.
