1. What can you do with this certificate?
A certificate in Architectural Technology prepares you for an entry-level position in the career field of drafting and pre-architecture in preparation for an architectural program at an university.
2. What will you learn in the Architectural Technology program?
In this program you will receive instruction in construction graphics, materials and methods, environmental and structural systems, building codes, and an introduction to computer aided drafting.
3. What kinds of classes can you look forward to in the Architectural Technology program?
Principals of Interior Design (3 credits)
You will learn principles of design as they relate to interior design, furniture arrangement, wall composition, color, furnishings, collages and illustration.
Structural Design and Building Materials (3 credits)
In the class, you will learn the structural analysis in building design, as well as the basic relationships between structures and architectural form. You will also study the principals, concepts and procedures of statics and mechanics of materials.
Construction Graphics (5)
In this five credit class, you will learn the drafting fundamentals, construction systems, design and space planning, and presentation methods of construction graphics.
4. How long will it take you to complete this certificate?
This 25-credit certificate can be completed taking classes full time in approximately one year.
